Seriously, though: Americans assume little enough responsibility for our
government that if only for a few minutes, we must deliberately set
aside our apathy and cynicism in the belief that we own our democracy.
Our Union is as pressurized and brittle as it has been in almost 150
years. The future always starts with today, and there may be no more
important pivot point in the history of western civilization than right
now. Don't allow yourselves to look back and wonder whether your
choices make a difference: even choosing to not choose carries
consequences.
All voting Americans (even the swing-vote conservatives) automatically
have my respect today. Get to the polls, make informed choices, ... and
get a receipt.
