Gun obsession

Dear colleagues,
Instead of Trauma we recently became experts on gun debates.
I really can't understand this obsession with gun possession in America
I saw somewhere in your messages ,repeated the insertion ,  ...guns don't
kill - the people holding them do the killing
Well,on a parallelism ,I may say ,let's give all nations the right to have
nuclear weapons.,while ,nuclear weapons don't kill - the people holding them
do the killing.
My heretical view.
