Charles,
The resident didn't want to accept the patient 'cause if he did he would have had to stay past his 80 hours!!!
OK, so I'll shut up now!!

in my previous life in Louisiana, the answer would have been "trying to
satisfy the surgical resident who didn't want to accept the transfer from my
little hospital (with no surgeon) to his big level 1 trauma center"...and who was
also insisting on 4 liters of IV fluids and a systolic BP over 100 before
transport...
Even quoting Ken Mattox and Errington Thompson at those residents didn't
help in a lot of cases...
