I would agree with this observation.   I would suggest that one  reason is 
that we do not have good randomized prospective studies in patients  with blunt 
trauma, unless one considers the IED patients to be blunt trauma  (blast).    
The ISR model of severe liver injury is also a  penetrating trauma model, 
although some would argue that it would also apply to  blunt.     
 
So..................we must develop studies to evaluate this question and  
report and debate those papers.
