Hello,
I was incredibly keen to go along to the Trauma conference this year having had a grand time at the BASICS conference last year and am happy to hear of so many positive apects to the event. However, as a Paramedic the costs of these events are often prohibitive especially when one considers the various expenditures one may wish to pursue e.g. PHTLS course, Dip IMC etc.
I was somewhat dismayed to see the line of very shiny ambulances on the brochure and the various topics for nurses when I and many of my colleuages (nurses also) are precluded from attending.
One of the major problems we will face in the near future is not the quantity or quality of opportunities to expand and improve skills but the accessibility and ability to attend.
Given that the majority of Trauma cases are seen initially by a Paramedic, with limited equipment, training and support, it would seem to be evident that our inclusion is beneficial to both physician and patient alike.
In any event, thanks for your time and I have gained an immense amount from this list.
Take care and Kindest Regards
