Check out the attached link to the DOH Health Care Assistant (HCA) Program. I believe that you can get your answers there. If not, let me know. Also, MultiCare has our own set of Policies & Procedures including the "scope of practice" for HCA's. We operate under the direction of the ED's Medical Program Director.

Hey Bill, does the "Health Care Assistant Level F" have a set of protocols
or a Practice Act to go with the classification? I'd sure be interested in
looking at it...thanks.

In Pierce County Washington State we use Paramedics in the ED's to
supplement the RN's. We are licensed as "Health Care Assistant Level F" with
the State of Washington Department of Health. This license allows us to
administer narcotics and other meds along with performing our Paramedic
skills within the ED.

Does anyone know of any hospitals in California that are using
paramedics in the Emergency Departments? I am looking for non-flight
or EMS connected personnel, i.e. paramedics whose only job
description is ED work.

Thanks in advance,

Mike
