Anthony,
Thanks for your support - it does mean a whole lot to me.
As for the Waterbury Firefighter, I was called as soon as they crashed
by Dick Felner, my best friend and chief of the Fairfield Fire
Department - the members of which I consider to be my family. (I was a
Commissioner for 10 years, and still retain the privilege of being the
dept surgeon. Fact is they gave me the honor of being the 2nd person to
ever be named as an honorary member of IAFF Local 1426) The guys went
to Yale, and I have tried to stay in touch without violating the HIPPA
crap. To be honest, I didn't know that he died - knew they expected him
to not survive, but.....
Hang loose, and stay tuned!

Hey Ron, I just wanted to put my 2 cents in. I would never see a
Michael
Moore movie. EVER! A man that can capitalize on misfortune or
controversy,
to me is a conniving and devious way to make money. I have no room for
him
in my life. Besides my daughter needs me more and more everyday. So
no
time.
By the way, did you see the firefighter that died from Waterbury in
the MVC
Vs. another fire truck? Yesterday he was listed in critical
condition,
today the obit came from the IAFF that he died. I was formally under
the
command of the former fire chief of that department. He was a big
advocate
on set belts. To this day, I where mine no matter where I go. However,
one
of the oldest apparatus that we have in service has an open cab and no
seat
belts. It dose come across your mind from time to time of the what
if's
scenario while riding in the back.
Be good, and we appreciate your honesty from this end.

I do believe you have hit the nail on the head. This sort of "mental
masturbation" does often hurt the list. Just think; in Catholic
school,
masturbation was condemned as a sin. In therapy, I am told that it
was
deemed to be healthy and would hurt no one. In reality, it was
something to
do when you just didn't have anyone that you cared enough about to
share
your desires with.
For what it is worth, I choose to pass on the mental masturbation
piece, and
come what may, I would just as soon voice my opinions to those I choose
to
have a relationship with, and hit the delete key for the rest.
If that makes me smell like a pile of dog dirt, well I guess that no
one
could ever accuse me of saying my pile don't stink!
OK - I will shut up now.
Be well and prosper,
Ron

Well, now that you ask — both, really.
It's a mistake to post a review of a movie that you haven't seen if
only
because it opens you up to the criticism already noted.
OTOH, please, we've all seen the photos of the Cuban hospitals that
the
non-VIPs get to go to are really like (the URLs have been posted on the
list
before), they're appalling. We all know that Cuban refugees regularly
risk
life and limb to swim, row, paddle, etc. to get to the U.S. Anyone who
has
even remote interest in the accuracy of MMs films knows that he
routinely
exaggerates, spins, and IMO lies (e.g. see
http://www.davekopel.com/Terror/Fiftysix-Deceits-in-Fahrenheit-911.htm
, and http://www.hardylaw.net/Truth_About_Bowling.html , etc. ). So do
I
think the movie will be worth the time and $8 — hell no.
That being said, MM preaches to the choir, the opposition opposes and
nobody
changes their minds anyway. It's harmless mental masturbation unless
it
causes rifts among people of good will and hurts the list.
My op
inion, worth what it costs.

Seriously, how many times do you have to sniff dog dirt to make a
fairly
solid prediction that the next pile STILL won't smell like roses.

Charles,
What a treat this topic has been, a forcefull K diatriabe against a
movie he
has not seen, supported by someone who never will.
Such arrogance leaves me in awe.
