HFO

Abdullah,

We are an institution that sees a fair amount of blunt chest trauma. We have
for the past few years used HFO for rescue from refractory profound
hypoxemia. We are recently beginning to use it earlier in a patients course.

The following attachments refer to the use of HFO in many patients even
though none are specifically traumatic pulmonary contusions. These are
references that I usually refer to when recommending HFO. I would be happy
to share anecdotal experience if you would like.
