ideal ER lengths of stay?

Eh...we are all in different systems. 3-8 minutes. I don't believe this is realistic. Why bother having a trauma bay if you aren't going to use it? I've worked at 3 busy ACS verified Level I trauma centers and none of them are pushing pts through in 3- 8 minutes. And, I admit, I've watched the "Trauma" TV series (documentary) and I don't recall seeing any of those move the patients through in 8 minutes. Granted, it's not real time TV, but....

I'm not saying that we should camp out in the EC or anything of the sort. And, I know we can get tied up doing things that can be done elsewhere. But, in our system, the SICU needs some time to get things ready. We're far from ill-prepared, but realistically, it's a nursing issue. Not placing blame.

Finally, I'll put our survival, LOS and complications up against anyone who's pushing them through in 3-8 min or waving them past and I'm confident ours will match those.

I have taken unstable penetrating cases direct to OR, but it's not common for us by any means. And you'll not convince we that we're doing anything below the standard of care.
