ideal ER lengths of stay?

If the patient clearly needs the OR, then I would say however long it takes you to call the OR to tell them you are on the way up plus transit time to the OR. As I see it, that would be under 10 minutes in my place.
Now, if you want the standard ACS COT party line, the ED stay for a severely injured patient should be under 30 minutes.

What should be the maximum ideal length of stay in the ER for the seriously
injured patient? I realize that this will depend on the severity and
mechanism of injury, but those of you who are "QA"-ing (or "PI"-ing, or even
"CQI"-ing) ER lengths of stay - what are your benchmarks?
Many thanks, etc.
