It is with deep respect that I apologize for bringing this subject again to
the attention of the members of this web site. I am in the middle of some
very serious discussions with colleagues as well as the hospital
administration. The subject is the economic, survival, and complications
aspects of aeromedical emergency transport. This is basically a project
regarding rotocraft, and not fixed wing. I am also not interested in the
discussions about rescue, such as we saw in New Orleans during the
evaculations from the flood following Hurricane Katrina. I am not
interested in the marketing and advertising aspects of ambulances and
helicopters that carry the name of a hospital on its side and are
regularilly seen on television. I recognize the business value of
these uses. I am interested in articles regarding the value of the
helicopter compared to ground ambulance or even personal vehicle for
emergency medical transport. I have already done a med-line search and
have been disappointed that I have been unable to find a benefit in survival
and in lessening complications, length of hospital stay and an increase
recovery of organs for transplantation when air ambulances are used.
