Chest tube devices

Seldinger chest drains work very well for smaller drains - e.g. 12Fr we use medical (spontaneous) pneumothorax and pleural effusion. Very easy to insert and comfortable for the patient afterwards.

There are larger seldinger drains available for trauma - bit tedious to insert and no difference to patient comfort compared to open technique (ATLS) drain. So we stick to dissection method and waterless bags.

I am looking for information and feedback from those of you who have used or
have experience with newer chest tube devices ( seldinger technique vs other
percutaneous method) vs the traditional method of insertion.

Any comment on techniques or devices is welcome.
