Dear All,
  Situation in Sri lanka:

My unit in Colombo is the only dedicated Trauma Unit in SL which is manned by 6 surgeons around the clock doing only Trauma. All our surgeons here are General surgeons.
Around the country the Trauma and Emergency surgery being handled by General surgeons in addition to their general surgeical workload.
We dont have Trauma surgeons. I am trying to establish that.

  To all trauma.org-istas,

Who does acute care surgery at your center? Is it done by mainstream general surgeons, trauma/critical care surgeons, or dedicated non trauma hospitalist surgeons? What percentage of the acute care surgery (Emergency Department surgical consults and in-hospital emergency surgical consults) is done by each category?

The Acute Care Surgical boards are coming and may be limited to only surgeons who cover trauma/critical care in addition to providing emergency general surgery services. Do you agree with this or should there be access to boards for non-trauma general surgeons?

Mike Sise,
San Diego
