I would hope our air medical colleagues are months or years ahead of us in
this matter and provide us with strong direction.
I am neither an expert in this field nor a person proclaiming to be such. I
am a 30+ year EMS Provider who is tired of seeing news reports regarding air
and ground fatalities of my peers far too frequently. I am personally
sickened by a few of my peers and colleagues who, in my opinion, sit like
vultures waiting to throw blame at and denigrate those who have perished.
My thoughts are not grandiose, just simply to bring together experts,
stakeholders, and participants, electronically or in-person, to look at some
of the data that may be available, the best practices being used, and the
known bad practices to start an organized dialog FOR change where change is
appropriate. Some of that change may be attitudinal versus physical.
I simply offer my concerns and whatever skill set I may bring to the table
to look at the issue for a positive discussion on how to prevent death where
possible and save lives when the opportunity arises. Thank you Dr. Mattox
for knowing several of the specific issues that should be addressed, maybe
others can follow his and Jules lead to present agenda items to start the
dialog.
Thanks.
Take care,
Bob
