Pulmonary Hydatid Cyst

JJ,
It is thick walled, are you sure it's a hydatid?
I will do a post/lat thoracotomy, if it is a hydadid cyst as you inflate
it will peal out, I will start the incision anteriorly away from the
cyst, its easy to rupture, you don't want that.

Subject: Pulmonary Hydatid Cyst

All,
?pardon this slightly off target question for the group, but I have been
asked by some of my Egyptian colleagues to surgically drain an
Echinococcal cyst that resides in the right lower lobe of a 5 year olds
lung.? They physicians referring have extensive experience with this
disease and insist that surgical drainage is the way to go for these
pulmonary cysts, we are doing the abdominal cysts percutaneously.? I am
a US trauma surgeon with little experience in Echinococcal disease but
see that the literature is somewhat split on the issue.? Looking for
some input from those who have been there with this disease process.? CT
(2 cuts) attached.
thanks
