Dear friends
      Though unrelated Drug DOMPERIDOL is frequently prescribed to control vomiting
   in trauma cases
    I came across 2 cases of unusual response to the drug
    1. A 50 year old lady was admitted for fever and vomitings
       She was becoming comatosed- recovering after 6-7 hrs again going into coma.
       There were no orher neurological signs.
      A review of the drugs being administered revealed that she was getting tab.DOMPERIDOL and her going into coma was coinsiding with the giving of the tablet.
     The suspected tab .was stopped and she did not go into coma again.
    2 The second case was that of a 80 year lady who came to us in coma and shock.
       History as detailed by the relative was that she was given half a tablet of domperidol
     by a doctor who saw her for a complaint of vomiting.
      15 mts.after coming to the hospital she had a cardiac arrest but revived and lived for
      another year .
   
       The advise is --avoid domperidol in elderly patients.
